About Dr. McKinstry's Holistic Veterinary Clinic
Dr. Elizabeth McKinstry is a highly-skilled veterinarian with over 40 years of experience treating cats, dogs, horses and other animals.
Dr. McKinstry's veterinary practice is located on a beautiful horse farm in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania about a mile from Longwood Gardens. This family-owned practice has a warm small-town atmosphere that makes animals actually like coming to the vet.
Dr. McKinstry received her dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Swarthmore College and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. She is one of a handful of people who have completed a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
Elizabeth has always been an animal lover, and she worked diligently to achieve her lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian and owning her own practice.
Dr. McKinstry chooses to take a holistic approach to veterinary medicine, which means she takes the diet, lifestyle and quality of life of her patients into account when determining the best course of treatment. Never one to be idle, Dr. McKinstry regularly attends continuing education seminars and conferences to stay abreast of the newest discoveries in veterinary medicine. Since 2009, Dr. McKinstry has been enthusiastically studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and integrating her newfound knowledge of this ancient science with the practice of traditional veterinary medicine to widen the scope and options of treating disease in her patients.
Dr. McKinstry commonly combines conventional medicine, acupuncture, herbs, and lifestyle recommendations to holistically heal the animals she treats. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, Tui Na medical massage, Veterinary Food Therapy and Chinese Herbal Therapy.
Dr. McKinstry lives on her beloved farm in Kennett Square, which she shares with her son, Sam, their three cats, two dogs, and four horses.
